Headshots Ferndale

Looking for a professional headshot photographer in Ferndale? I'd love to help. My studio is right up the road in Berkley, just a short drive from Ferndale, so getting a polished, professional headshot is easy and convenient.

Ferndale is full of creative, independent people who appreciate headshots and portraits that reflect who they are. Whatever brought you here, whether it's a headshot for LinkedIn, a portfolio for acting or modeling, or images to build your personal brand, I'll keep things relaxed and even fun. My goal is simple: to help you walk away with images you genuinely like.

Ferndale is one of my favorite corners of the Detroit area. It's a bright, colorful, and diverse community just north of the city along the Woodward Corridor, and it carries forward Detroit's great design history and its resilience, turning them into something all its own: a bubbling, modern, creative place. You feel it in the quaint neighborhoods of craftsman-style homes, the colorful boutiques, and the street art that fills its walkable downtown. It's a warm, inviting, progressive city with a genuinely creative, bohemian spirit, and if you ever want a good time, one of Ferndale's summer festivals will show you exactly what I mean.

That individuality is exactly what a great headshot should capture. I don't want you to look like everyone else. I want your headshot to look like you at your confident best, whether you're a business professional, an entrepreneur, or a performer.

A lot of the people I photograph from Ferndale are building something of their own: actors and models putting together a portfolio, small-business owners and makers who are the face of their own brand, and creative professionals who want an image that looks polished without looking stiff. If that's you, we'll shoot with your goals front of mind, whether that means theatrical and commercial looks for casting, a clean and current headshot for your website, or a set of branded images for social media. And if you simply need a sharp LinkedIn photo, that's every bit as welcome. Ferndale's blend of business and creativity is exactly the range I love working across.

Not sure you're photogenic? Almost no one feels camera-ready at first, and putting you at ease is the part of my job I take most seriously. I'll direct you the whole way through, so the nerves fade and what's left is a set of headshots that actually look like you on a good day. If easing those camera nerves would help, my post on feeling more confident in front of the camera is a good read, and you can also see what past clients have said about their sessions. And when it's time to prepare, my post on getting camera-ready covers the skin and makeup tips that help you look your best on the day.

Wondering about cost or logistics? You'll find full session options and pricing on my pricing page. When you're ready, get in touch with any questions, or book a consultation below and we'll talk it through. I also photograph clients in nearby Royal Oak and throughout the Detroit Metro area.

How Sessions Work

  1. 1.It starts before you ever step in front of the camera. Once you book, I reach out to talk through your goals, help you plan what to wear, and answer anything on your mind, so you arrive knowing exactly what to expect.
  2. 2.During the shoot you're never left guessing. I direct you through each pose and expression, and because I photograph tethered, your images appear on a screen as we go. Seeing yourself look good in real time is the quickest way to relax and enjoy it.
  3. 3.A few days later you'll look through a private gallery and pick your favorites. I retouch your selections and deliver them ready for LinkedIn, a casting profile, your website, or a modeling portfolio, whatever you need them for.

Q&A

1.

Are you an experienced headshot photographer?

Yes, very. I've been photographing headshots since 2016, first building my studio in Dallas and now here in Berkley, Michigan. Over those years I've worked with hundreds of professionals, entrepreneurs, actors, and performers, and I bring all of that experience to every Ferndale client who sits in front of my camera.

2.

Do you photograph actors and models?

Yes. Along with corporate and professional headshots, I photograph actors, models, dancers, and other performers. Whether you need theatrical and commercial headshots for casting, images for a modeling portfolio, or a comp card, I'll help you show range and personality while still looking like yourself. Let me know what you're auditioning or submitting for and we'll plan the looks around it.

3.

What is the best headshot for LinkedIn?

For LinkedIn, approachable beats formal. You want a clean background, soft and even light, and a warm, confident expression, framed from about the chest up so your face still reads clearly at thumbnail size. The idea is to look like the person a stranger would feel comfortable reaching out to, and I'll coach you toward that the whole way through.

4.

Where is your studio, and how far is it from Ferndale?

My studio is in Berkley, the next community over from Ferndale. For most people coming from Ferndale it's a short drive of roughly ten minutes, easy enough to fit into a lunch break.

5.

What should I wear for my headshot?

Simple wins. Solid, muted colors photograph better than loud patterns, and anything that fits well and feels like you will read as confident on camera. If you're building an acting or modeling portfolio, bring a few options so we can shoot a range of looks. I'll send wardrobe guidance ahead of time and help you choose when you arrive.

6.

How much do headshots cost?

You'll find current session options and pricing on my pricing page. I deliberately separate the session fee from the cost of the images, so you're never paying for photos you don't want, only the ones you'll actually use.

7.

How long does a headshot session take?

Plan on roughly 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how many looks or outfit changes you'd like. I don't work against a clock or rush you out the door; we stay until you have images you're genuinely happy with.

8.

Do you photograph teams or groups?

Absolutely. Beyond individual headshots, I photograph teams and staff on location and create branding images for Ferndale businesses. Tell me your group size and what you're after, and I'll put together a plan that fits.

The best first step is a relaxed conversation, with no camera involved. Let's talk about what you're looking for, and I'll walk you through how everything works.
